Thanks to France-Berkeley Fund!

On May 5, the France-Berkeley Fund celebrates twenty years of supporting international, co-operative research between invidivudal and teams of researchers from the University of California and French research universities and institutes.  In 2008-2009, a France-Berkeley Fund grant to principal investigators Professors Niek Veldhuis (UC Berkeley, Near Eastern Studies) and Francis Joannès (Paris-I Sorbonne) supported a conference in Berkeley.  Entitled “Ancient Families … Modern Tools,” this day-long symposium, followed by hands-on workshops, explored the potential of extensible, re-usable, open-source digital tools to support prosopographical research, and was the formal start of Berkeley Prosopography Services.  We are happy to acknowledge the support of the France-Berkeley Fund, to celebrate their on-going support of international co-operations, and to wish the fund many more years of success.  Here is our updated poster that will be on display during the celebration:
